In former days everything was better!! Probably your grandparents have said or say it many times. But I'm always wondering what these former days are? When you are little you mean with the past maybe 2 years ago, when you are a teenager the past is around 5 years ago, when you are mid-twenty the past is 15 years ago and when you become 65 years old the past is 30-50 years ago!! So with time the past is getting further away?

Last saturday I became 25 years old, joehoe!! Maybe that's why I was thinking of "the past". I like the past, but I do like the present and the future too. Why do old people like the past more? Of course, the future is getting shorter but it is probably also because bad experiences loose their sharp edges. Only good experiences survive :-)

I'm cycling for 5 seasons now, that's already 20% of my life, haha! Last Wednesday I cycled the race "Parel van de Veluwe" for the 5th time. I have good memories of my first race here, I was so proud and excited that I had finished the 140km race! When I close my eyes I see flash backs of moments of that race, great!!

Unfortunately other races have less nice flash backs... Next week starts the 3-stages race "Ster Zeeuwse Eilanden". The past (race of 2008) didn't delete the bad experiences of it yet, but the good results of last year (2009) made them more gentle. Let the future begin!
