Sand in your eyes

Some rain is always expected in spring. You have to be prepared for wet races, because you will have them for sure. But there is some difference between a wet race, a wet windy race, a wet dirty race or wet race with cobble stones (or combinations of them). Today I had a wet race with some dirt. It was not too bad because the track was good with not too many corners or dangerous cobble stones. There was only some mud and horse shit...

In fact the rain isn't the problem, the problem are the cyclists. Every cyclist has a bike with a rear wheel that causes a awful spray of water and together with the water everything what it finds on the road! That spray is perfectly launched in your eyes and makes you blind. Of course, there are some options to avoid this:

1. Make sure that you don't get behind another cyclist (stupid option, or your name is Fabian Cancellara and you are able to cycle the whole race in front of the bunch)

2. Wear glasses (far more easy than option 1)

I chose for the second option, but it has some disadvantages. With rain and a clean road it works perfect, but then you enter a road full of mud and horse shit. The spray changes in brown soup and in a few seconds you are totally colored brown, inclusive your glasses. At that moment you have to take off your glasses and accept the sand and water in your eyes. Knowing that even 4 days later you will still find the sand in your eyes.
