This afternoon we had the cycling race in Veldhoven. I came home two hours ago (17.30h) and the first thing I did was checking the tv. Did it record the Giro d'Italia? Yes, good, time to relax and time to watch the bunch of cyclists who were trying to find their way from Amsterdam to Utrecht. I know that it's very hard when you are not used to Dutch roads with speed bumps, roundabouts and everywhere reliëf to seperate lanes and decrease the speed!!

It's great that the Giro is visiting Holland, but I think that it would be better for the safety of the riders that they do not take the tourist route through Holland. Although..even with clean roads you have a lot of crashes. I saw it today again and I'm happy sitting on the couch now without any bruses or injuries.

We started with 200 cyclists and not even 15 minutes away there already have been 2 crashes (that I just managed to keep out of)!! My team did it well and all nine stayed in front and out of troubles. Chantal Blaak got away with Marianne Vos en she finished 2e!

Many cyclists of the Giro were less fortunate, there were crashes, crashes and more crashes. Tomorrow I'm gonna watch the Giro passing by and tonight I will say a little prayer for them, to bring them home safely.
